Noomi Rapace (born Norén; 28 December 1979) is a Swedish actress. She is best known for her portrayal of Lisbeth Salander in the Swedish/Danish film adaptations of the "Millennium series": The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, The Girl Who Played with Fire and The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets' Nest. She more recently played Sim in Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows and will star as Shaw in the upcoming Ridley Scott science fiction film Prometheus. 
 
Rapace was born in Hudiksvall. Her mother, Nina Norén, is a Swedish actress, and her father, Rogelio Durán (1953-2006), was a Spanish Read his whole biography h cantaor (Flamenco singer) from Badajoz. She has said that her father may have been of part Roma descent, and though she is "not sure if it is true", she has "always been interested in the culture". Rapace's sister, Særún Norén, is a photographer. Rapace has said that she saw her father only occasionally before his death. At the age of five, she moved from Sweden to Flúðir, Iceland, with her mother and stepfather. At the age of seven she made her film debut in the Icelandic film In the Shadow of the Raven playing a minor role. 
 
At the age of seven, Rapace was given a non-speaking part in the film Í skugga hrafnsins by Hrafn Gunnlaugsson. This experience made her decide to be an actress.[5] She left home at age 15 and enrolled in a Stockholm theatre school.[6] In 1996, she made her TV début playing the part of Lucinda Gonzales in the TV series Tre kronor. From 1998 to 1999, Rapace studied at Skara Skolscen. She has been engaged at Theater Plaza 2000-2001, Orionteatern 2001, Teater Galeasen 2002, Stockholms stadsteater in 2003 as well as at the Royal Dramatic Theatre. 
 
In 2007, Noomi Rapace drew acclaim for her award-winning portrayal of a troubled teen mother in the Danish film Daisy Diamond, directed by Simon Staho. She won the two top film awards in Denmark (the Bodil and Robert prize) for Best Actress for her role in the film, which was also selected for the main competition at the San Sebastian International Film Festival. 
 
The story deals with Anna (played by Noomi Rapace) who dreams of one thing only: making it as an actress. Without telling her family, she moves to Copenhagen to pursue her secret dream. But fate has something else in store for her. Anna becomes pregnant and has a baby girl. Though she struggles to give her daughter a good start in life, she ultimately fails to unite her dream of acting with a safe and loving environment for her child, culminating in a desperate act that has fatal consequences for Anna and her daughter. According to Variety, "Rapace delivers a superbly committed performance in a demanding role, the actress having to expose herself physically and emotionally." 
 
In 2009 she played the role of Lisbeth Salander in the film adaptation of the best-selling novel The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. She reprised her role in the sequels The Girl Who Played with Fire and The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets' Nest. Since her breakthrough role in The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, Rapace has been in high demand in Hollywood, and she was rumored to have read for or tested for roles in Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol, Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters, This Means War and The Raven. On 11 September 2010, Entertainment Weekly reported that Rapace had been cast in Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows, her first English-speaking role, as a French Gypsy; the film was released in 2011. She is also to be in the next Ridley Scott movie, Prometheus
