Thumbsucker

Thumbsucker is an original and comedic coming – of – age story about a confused teen who is growing up in an extremely dysfunctional family. Justin Cobb calls his father and mother by their fist names because calling them "mom and dad" makes them feel old. He is "not typically handsome, athletic or confident," nor is he too popular at school. He deals with the issues in his life through sucking his thumb. But, Justin's habit has become so severe that it is ruining his teeth. In trying to conquer his obsessive thumb sucking, he is forced to turn to the only semi – sane people in his life, a "new age" orthodontist and his high school debate coach. When finally "cured", he directs all of his energies to his other obsessions : women, his mother and debating, while the members of his family attempt to reinvent themselves.
