Reasonable Doubt

Mitch Brockden (Dominic Cooper) is a young assistant district attorney at the top of his game who finds the wheels spinning out of control due to a simple ill-judged decision. After celebrating the birth of his daughter Mitch decides to drive home - intoxicated. On his way home, he hits a pedestrian. Not wanting to use his cell phone to call an ambulance, he instead runs to a pay phone to call 911. His thoughts on his family and career, he flees the scene. The next day Mitch sees on the news that a man named Clinton Davis (Samuel L. Jackson) has been arrested for the murder of Cecil Akerman, the man Mitch hit. Mitch knows the reality of the situation but can't say or he will implicate himself. Pressured by his morals, he attempts to do the right thing by getting himself installed as the prosecution attorney and throwing the case against Davis. With help from an unexpected source he is successful, and Davis is acquitted. But Mitch has unwittingly put his and his family's life in danger.
